NETWORK ARCHITECT CLOUD

SALARY: $180K - $190K Flex plus 15% bonus

LOCATION: REMOTE

Looking for a Network Architect out of a large enterprise environment to help bring us to the cloud. Have AWS, Google and Azure. You will eed to be heavy in one and willing to learn the rest. Must have great soft skills and have experience taking a large company's network to the cloud. must be able to collaborate with security infrastructure applications and DNS infoblux sd-WAN ACI WAN/LAN devops python terraform etc.

The Network Architect role is responsible for the design of network infrastructure for the physical datacenters, Cloud deployments (AWS, GCP, and Azure), campus, distribution centers, and branches. Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills will be needed; this role will coordinate across departments to ensure alignment with policies and co-develop architectures with teams from other departments including Security, Cloud Services, Infrastructure, Storage, Applications, etc. to meet Grainger's business goals, ensure security and reliability of network services, and extend technical capabilities of network services.

Job duties will include

  • Collaboration with Security, Cloud Services, Infrastructure, Storage, Applications, Monitoring, and other teams to ensure alignment of solution requirements and outcomes
  • Network Architecture for Grainger's datacenters, Clouds (AWS, GCP, and Azure), and other environments
  • Demonstrating technical leadership, including mentoring others as well as modelling behaviors and competencies associated with displaying initiative, customer focus, embracing curiosity, acting with intent and urgency, and doing the right thing
  • Thought leadership in determining future vision, direction, and capabilities for Grainger's network in concert with business leadership, architecture groups, and planning committees; identify novel opportunities, risks, and technologies and be able to develop and execute strategies to achieve technical and business goals by taking proposed solutions through idea, business case, proposal, planning, execution, and operationalization phases
  • Creation of network design & security documents
  • Creation of engineering and operational standards, policies, procedures, and metrics
  • Leading strategic network migration and deployment projects, including aspects of technical project management as well as some hands-on configuration of network devices
  • Exercising strong communication skills (verbal and written) to effectively communicate to stakeholders including engineers, software developers, non-technical business managers, and executive leaders
  • Engaging with vendors and consultants to build project business cases, equipment quotes, and/or Statements of Work (SOWs) to satisfy business needs
  • Aiding in creation of mechanisms and automation (including creation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) automation pipelines) using Terraform and other DevOps tools

Required

  • 10+ years experience in a Network Engineering role (including leading projects and design efforts, not just operations, support, and/or deployment)
  • 5+ years Experience designing and deploying complex multi-vendor enterprise network & security architectures (FWs, ELB/ALBs, DNS, network segmentation, IDS/IPS, DLP, WAF, R&S, VPCs, TGW, EC2, Security Groups, etc.) for OnPrem and Cloud - leading design & projects, not just deployments or operations
  • 5+ years Cisco expertise including experience designing and implementing secure enterprise networks utilizing Cisco routing & switching (BGP, OSPF, SD-WAN, QoS, IPSec, MPLS, 802.1x, ISE, etc.) for hybrid architectures (internal and intra-datacenter, DX/ExpressRoute, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps/GitOps methodologies and practices, preferably in the deployment and operation of foundational cloud network infrastructure
  • Highly proficient with Automation tools (such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Python)
  • Working knowledge of security and audit standards (PCI DSS, CIS, ISO, SOC2)
  • Exposure to DevOps tools including BitBucket, Jenkins, Git or equivalent
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
