Let s start at the beginning. About us:

We are a medium-sized, independent law firm based in Reading and we have a new opportunity for a Team Assistant in our large and busy Real Estate Team.

The role

Our Real Estate team provides legal advice and assistance to a wide range of businesses and other organisations with issues relating to land and property buying, selling, leasing, financing, issues relating to access and rights of way and so on.

The team are looking for a Team Assistant to support the lawyers in the team by undertaking a range of administrative duties. If you are incredibly organised, this could be you! You aren t required to have had any experience in the legal sector or have studied Law.

Here are some of the duties the role includes:

  • file opening procedures
  • administration of financial matters - invoice generation and other system related activities
  • document production including producing/amending letters from templates, proof- reading and collating enclosures
  • managing the compliance and other processes required to set up new client files
  • filing, photocopying, scanning, sorting incoming and outgoing post/DX, and other document management tasks
  • data room administration
  • assisting with billing and other accounting processes and file archiving
  • undertaking title checks and land/property searches
  • assisting with completion and post-completion tasks
  • taking telephone messages and liaising with clients and others on straightforward issues
  • assisting with marketing and event administration (mailshots, invitations, feedback collation etc.)
  • general administrative tasks

You may also be asked from time to time to get involved in other activities and projects within the team/firm.

Successful candidates will need to be able to demonstrate the following:

  • exceptional organisational skills and efficiency;
  • strong communication skills;
  • a high level of accuracy/attention to detail;
  • excellent written English skills (including a strong knowledge of grammar and punctuation); strong IT skills, particularly of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel with good typing skills; a professional attitude towards work.
