The Role

As Learning Manager you will support the Director of Learning as part of the Directorate leadership team with responsibility for a large curriculum area which includes direct line management responsibilities for staff. On occasions you may be asked to deputise for the Director of Learning and represent the Directorate at key meetings.

This role is key to the quality of the student experience and success and so you will work with personal tutors, cross college departments (particularly with Quality), other Directors and Managers to deliver high levels of student satisfaction, success and progression. You will manage the curriculum area staff setting objectives, managing performance, monitoring sickness absence and annual leave requests, carry out Personal Reviews and support personal development. Additionally, you will lead teaching and learning improvements and facilitate the sharing of good practice across your area.

We are looking for an individual who is highly self-motivated, resilient, energetic and driven, encompassing a strong sense of autonomy. You will possess strong presentation and communication skills and be able to demonstrate achievement of targets at a management level.

Key skills, responsibilities and attitudes

  • Knowledge of FE Courses and Apprenticeships
  • Knowledge of current evidence-based practice in relevant fields of expertise
  • Experience of delivering IT and computing courses or working within the digital and IT sector
  • Understanding of leadership and management
  • Knowledge of issues relating to equal opportunities and cultural diversity
  • Flexible and adaptable attitude to working with students of all ages
  • Minimum Level 3, Graduate (or equivalent) in relevant subject area.

  • Dynamic and innovative approach, excellent organisational skills
