We have an excellent permanent job opportunity for a Big Data and Database Risk Specialist to support our client's Head of Cyber and New Technology Operational Risk in developing, implementing, and embedding their operational risk framework tools and methodologies to effectively identify and report on operational risk exposures and relevant mitigating activities.

Some of the job responsibilities include, not limited to, the following:-

  • Provide in-depth understanding of the technology and risks around: IT, Information/Cyber Security, Data and Emerging technologies prevailing in a Digital Transformation space.
  • To deliver oversight, advisory and guidance on all risks posed by Large Data and Databases.
  • To support as needed the digital/technology transformation of the bank from a technical risk management perspective.
  • To develop effective and collaborative relationship with all 1LoD and Group key stakeholders.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert across risk areas of specialism, regarded throughout risk and key business areas as the first point of call for advice.
  • Support the Head of Cyber and New Technology Operational Risk to bring together a holistic picture of the technology and to enhance the risk management framework and tools to better capture and report on technology risk.
  • Maintain effective 2LoD oversight of the controls environment and ensuring the relevant regulatory requirements and expectations are met.
  • To maintain up-to-date in-depth industry and technical expertise in the areas of focus.

Candidates applying for this role should be able to demonstrate most of the following:-

  • Experience in Big Data, ETL design and development, Data ingestion, Data on Cloud (encompassing various service and deployment models).
  • Understanding of the vendor landscape supporting Big data.
  • Experience in risk assessments of migration of large data workloads to cloud.
  • Demonstrable Knowledge of data storage technologies and associated risks and controls.
  • Considerable experience leading technical teams, capable of delivering strategy, building, and managing high performing teams including coaching and mentoring.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across the business with Senior and Executive Management.
  • Strong People skills - persuades and influences others, using a range of approaches, to achieve deliverables.
  • Strong Oral and Written Communication skills.
  • Hands on experience managing Oracle Databases and experience with defining Data Architecture patterns are desirables.
