Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Providing advice and guidance to business and functional areas regarding hiring, separations, and other employment matters; drafting and negotiating employment agreements and separation documents.
  • Handling employment-related pre-litigation and litigation matters, including working closely with outside counsel, coordinating document and e-discovery searches and productions, etc.
  • Handling internal investigations and employee relations issues and coordinating with relevant lines of business and functional areas to respond to subpoenas, regulatory inquiries, and threatened or actual litigation.
  • Providing guidance regarding internal policies and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Participating in or leading ad hoc projects or strategic initiatives.


  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with an exceptional work ethic - able to prioritize and work well in a fast moving, high pressure, dynamic environment;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills; and,
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including a team-oriented, collaborative attitude - ability to build, develop and maintain solid working relationships throughout various businesses and corporate departments; a bility to interact well with all levels of legal staff and personnel, including management and support staff.

  • JD with strong academic credentials;
  • A minimum of 5 years' relevant legal experience in a law firm--additional experience in-house at a financial services institution is a plus;
  • Actively licensed to practice law in the State of New York;
  • Demonstrated e-discovery and matter management experience; and,
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
