Position Description

PSS, Inc. is actively seeking an engineer with experience in Research & Development (R&D) and Component Development to join our growing team located in the Washington Navy Yard.
Clearance Requirements
Secret (Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Accordingly, US Citizenship is required.)
Position Requirements
Must hold an active Secret clearance.
Must have earned a Bachelor's degree in engineering, or higher.
Desired Skills & Experience
2+ years of experience with Navy submarine programs, preferred.
2+ years of DOD Acquisition Category I support, preferred.
2+ years of Research & Development experience, preferred.
5+ years of experience as a Nuclear Trained Submarine Officer (VA, SWLF, LA or OHIO Class), preferred.
Roles & Responsibilities
Responsible for developing, reviewing, and evaluating Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HME) and Strategic Weapons Support System (SWSS) Component Development plans (including programming, planning, budgeting, and execution).
Responsible for evaluating efforts and being an integral part of the Component Development teams designing and acquiring system components with a focus on affordability, performance, and maintainability.
Responsible for utilizing prior experience to review design deliverables and provide insight and experience applied to component specifications, ship arrangements and maintenance considerations; including reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) evaluations for component and system design.
Responsible for consolidating status of component development efforts into regular reports for reporting to the Program Manager.
