Volunteer Co-ordinator

Pact is a national charity that provides support to prisoners, people with convictions, and their families both in prison and the community. We believe in inter-dependence and in the fundamental importance of healthy relationships and the family to reduce the chances of re-offending and intergenerational crime. With this at the core, we are developing a new innovative family service pilot in partnership with HMP Brixton, HMPPS and Porticus that will deliver an end to end integrated rehabilitation and resettlement support programme to prisoners and their children and families. The service will ensure prisoners, their children, carers and other relatives have access to appropriate advice, guidance, learning opportunities, care and support to better enable them to maintain or enhance positive relationships, from the first day of arrival at Brixton prison, to up to 6 months post release.

Working in custody and community, you will be part of a team which will reduce re-offending, build stronger families, and show the way forward in an integrated approach to supporting the children and families of prisoners as part of the process of rehabilitation.

As our Family Befriending Co-ordinator, you will recruit and train a team of volunteer befrienders to support the children and families of men serving prison sentences at Brixton prison, and after release. You will also be able to demonstrate the ability to establish a new service and put in place the necessary processes and procedures to ensure it operates safely, within professional boundaries, and for the benefit of service users.

As a role model and ambassador for Pact, you will demonstrate our ethos and values, including positive, healthy relationships; reflective practice; partnership-building; teamwork; flexible thinking; creativity and transparency.
