Your new organisation
My client is a well known housing association, owning and managing just under 5000 homes in Merthyr Tydfil Local Authority area. A forward thinking organisation, they were the first housing association in Wales with an employee and tenant mutual, which allows both parties to own a share in the organisation. They provide general needs, sheltered and supported housing to their tenants. To their employees, they offer attractive employment benefits as well as an extensive employment development programme. In order to deliver the highest quality tenancy support to service users who may be at risk or vulnerable, they are currently recruiting for a Floating Support Worker for a period of approximately 3 months with a possibility of an extension.
Your new role
Starting immediately, you will be working in the housing department, reporting into the Support Services Team Leader and will be responsible for providing the appropriate levels of tenancy support to service users who may be unable to sustain accommodation independently. You will need to conduct needs and risk assessments of prospective service users and engage with service users to develop person centred Personal Support Plans. You will be required to visit the service users weekly to carry out the support plans and provide further tenancy support. You will also liaise with external agencies and make referrals on behalf of service users to cater for their needs. You will involve service users when required alongside fostering their independence and assist the Support Services Team Leader with continual review and development of this. This position is 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be experienced in floating support work and will be familiar with working with various types of vulnerable people and liaising with external agencies. You will be able to develop Personal Support Plans with service users and will be ready to update this with the service user when necessary. You will be comfortable working independently and managing a case load. You will need a full drivers licence with access to a vehicle.
What you'll get in return
This is an opportunity to work with a large housing association with multiple employee benefits in Merthyr. It is commutable via the M4 corridor and easy access from A470. The organisation offers a flexible working system, with a competitive hourly rate of £13.25 - £14.58.
