The SchoolHouse program is an approved Caring Together Group Home Program for youth ages 8 to 12 years old referred by the Department of Mental Health (DMH) and the Department of Children and Families (DCF). This program utilizes evidence-based treatment models to assist youth in moving home or to foster/adoptive homes. Our agency provides training and consultation on several of these evidence-based practice models, including Wraparound and Experiential Learning. Our agency provides excellent supervision (both individual and group), as well as various trainings in which to obtain CEU's, and opportunities for advancement. Our agency is an eligible employer for the Public Student Loan Forgiveness Program and provides tuition reimbursement for continuing education.
Residential Counselors ensure a supportive, nurturing, and structured environment, while providing guidance, advocacy, and case management to the youth. Counselors help to empower the adolescents served through the use of a trauma informed care approach utilizing such skills as compromising, negotiation, and problem solving. Residential Counselors help to keep the youth integrated into the community both locally and in their home towns.
Bachelor's degree in Social Services related field preferred, and/or experience or internship working with youth. Eligible candidates must have a valid driver's license and a minimum of a high school diploma or GED/HiSET. Eligible candidates must demonstrate competency with Microsoft Word. The agency provides all training to become certified in First Aid, CPR, Medication Administration Program (MAP) and SOLVE (Strategies of Limiting Violent Episodes).
