The professionals at the National Security Agency (NSA) have one common goal: to protect our nation. The mission requires a strong offense and a steadfast defense. The offense collects, processes and disseminates intelligence information derived from foreign signals for intelligence and counterintelligence purposes. The defense prevents adversaries from gaining access to sensitive classified national security information. Managers at NSA, where people are a priority, are responsible for leveraging the diversity of their work force to create innovative solutions that support the Agency's mission.

The job requires ability as a leader of a geographically diverse organization resourced by multiple force providers in the Intelligence Community (IC), the selectee will have regular interaction with a myriad number of senior leaders across the IC and DoD. Because of this requirement, applicants are expected to have a strong background in IC Collection Management, the scope and limitations on NSA authority to collect foreign intelligence, and the proved ability to lead and manage a large organization (300+ people). In addition, the applicant must have experience in oversight of current and future planed resources, budget expenditures and program activities. Finally, qualified candidates will have demonstrated an ability to proactively identify, navigate, and lead through evolving situations, as well as demonstrated that he/she can build and sustain alliances with internal and external organizations. Familiarity with military operations and/or past experience in mid-point operations is highly desirable.

Manager's play a vital role at NSA by:
- Managing an organizations personnel and processes, including promotions, awards, staffing, hiring, resource management, performance management, etc.
- Assigning work both across organizational elements and to employees with diverse work roles.
- Creating a learning environment that supports employees in realizing their potential.
- Contributing to the Agency's strategic plan based on their understanding of the mission they lead.
- Advising leadership on organizational matters, offering recommendations.
- Developing and communicating strategic goals, vision, priorities, programs, and long-range plans for an organization.
- Establishing and maintaining working relationships and networks with customers, professional colleagues internal and external to the Agency, foreign partners, or representatives of other agencies.
- Establishing organizational priorities to meet actions and deadlines.
- Coaching and mentoring.

Salary Range: $134,789 - $164,200 (Expert)

*The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position.

Entry is with a Bachelor's degree plus 9 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 7 years of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree plus 5 years of relevant experience. A high school diploma or GED plus 13 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 11 years of relevant experience may be considered.

Degree in any field acceptable.

Relevant experience must be formal supervisory experience and specialized experience in a subject matter related to the position in which the candidate is applying. In addition, may also include informal supervisory experience (e.g., team lead). At least 5 years of formal management experience and experience within the IC/DoD is preferred. The Director's Leadership Program is strongly preferred.
