Maintenance Manager - Electrical

We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Manager- Electrical for the site in Porton Down.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday - 08.00-17.00

Job Purpose:

To manage the operation and organisation of the Electrical Engineering and Engineering Shift teams based at PHE Porton Down.To ensure that the electrical infrastructure within the scope of the EMCOR contract are maintained to suit their intended purpose.

To have AP HV/LV status and to ensure appropriate AP HV/LV resourcing. To work closely with theMaintenance Manager - Mechanical to provide support across the two teams.
Provide electrical SME support to the EMCOR Project Team .Provide frontline HR support to the Electrical and Engineering Shift Teams. Foster a 'can-do' attitude within the team.

Principle Accountabilities:

Ensure appropriate resources are available to deliver contracted services

Accountable for the health, safety and well-being of the Electrical Engineering and Shift Team.

Ensure staff are fully trained for their respective tasks and where appropriate agree training and development plans for team members

Accountable for setting team objectives to be included in staff PPPs, which link to the Account Strategic Objectives.

Support the Electrical Team Leader to ensure that PPPs are undertaken for all staff

Support morale of the team with GEMs award scheme and positive reinforcement

Conduct weekly team meetings/TT.

Culture a continuous improvement ethos within the team. Encourage ideas for change and follow up with Operations Manager.

Attend EMCOR UK Performance and WIP meetings

Represent EMCOR UK at client meetings as required (this may include meetings with PHE appointed consultants and contractors) - planning/shutdown, capital projects, etc

Daily liaison with the Planning Team to ensure Electrical reactive & planned work orders are completed & returned within specified SLA's and KPI's

Undertake at least one documented audit/assessment to monitor quality of works undertaken by EMCOR UK Electrical Team or subcontractors delivering planned maintenance. Ensure that any corrective actions are recorded and followed through to close-out and that any opportunities for improvement are identified and implemented.

Support the Compliance Team to ensure we can demonstrate compliance against relevant elements of the EMCOR UK Legal Register for statutory maintenance

Coach team in the correct use of risk assessments.

Work with the projects team to organise works that fall outside of Electrical Engineering Team capability.

Provide professional customer support, and build relationships with client department heads.

Provide support to the Mechanical Maintenance Manager during holiday and sickness periods.

To participate in an Engineering Duty Manager roster, typically providing cover every one in four weeks

Work in accordance with the EMCOR UK Management and Professional Competency Framework

To uphold EMCOR values and behaviours

Proven and extensive experience within a similar leadership role

Technical expertise, qualifications or apprenticeship in a craft skill or engineering discipline (e.g. time served apprentice or qualification to ONC Level or equivalent in an Electrical discipline).

A minimum of four years' substantial operational and technical experience

Experience working within a scientific and regulated environment is essential

Working knowledge of current electrical and technical legislation

To be conversant with general Safety, Health and Environmental legislation and in particular the "PUWER regulations" and risk assessments

Able to utilise tools and techniques to ensure optimum productivity of resources is achieved

Be able to communicate effectively and have flexible approach to work patterns.

Knowledge of Word & Excel spreadsheets and their implementation with overall good IT skills

Ability to lead and motivate a large team - must be able to demonstrate leadership qualities with good influencing skills

Ability to plan and organise with drive and determination

Other Factors relevant to the job :

To work reasonable overtime as and when required with a flexible approach to working hours

Smart, presentable appearance, personable and approachable

Valid full driving licence
