Annual Salary
Experienced manager required for a thriving community centre. Situated at the heart of its local community, St Laurence Centre is an invaluable resource for local and cross-London people, groups and organisations. Financially independent, it is a well-used, purpose-built community hub that serves the needs of a very diverse range of users; a good proportion of local people will attend an event here over the course of a year. The Centre adjoins an equally well-used parish church, and part of the role is some administrative work for the parish.

As manager, you would be responsible for all aspects of the work of the Centre: setting priorities, managing the caretaking team and the large number of volunteers, liaising with users, managing the budget and salaries, overseeing maintenance issues; also assisting the clergy team with some aspects of managing the parish. The role requires a combination of managerial ability, administrative competence, people skills, teamwork, and sympathy with both community and church aspects of St Laurence's, which resource each other, although religious belief or practice is not a requirement.

Importantly, we are looking for someone who, as we celebrate our 50th anniversary, will help us develop a vision for the next 50 years. We are already well-known and well-used, but we are aware that we could do much better and we need a person able to lead us into the future.

The post is for 30 hours per week, worked over four or five days.
