Field Application Engineer

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Field Application Engineer on behalf of one of our clients.
The purpose of this role is to provide technical and design assistance to consumers located in Europe. You will provide market intelligence, directions and trend based on direct contact with customer OEMs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Engage in direct customer at key customer and focus accounts.
Identify and focus on opportunities with High ROI.
Develop solutions meeting technical specifications and commercial requirements.
Coordinate with local sales managers.
Sort through customer technical issues to determine correct solution and engage proper product line resources to get issues resolved.
Select appropriate application block diagrams from previous use or generate new ones as needed to foster total solution sales.
Work through Marcom to develop technical sales collateral material.
Support sales activities to specify and procure custom samples or required testing and reports.
Provide training to sales and distribution channel partners. This may include preparing and presenting technical information at conferences and trade shows.
Publish technical papers in trade magazines.
Actively seek to improve the technical application of customer's applications.
Identify gaps in product portfolio by understanding customer needs.
Communicate new product ideas to product management and engineering via new specifications and sketches.
Participate in new product development as the technical liaison between the development team and the customer.
Participate in Regulatory & Standards meetings as directed by management.
Collect and disseminate market intelligence relating to;
Competition behaviour, activities and product releases.
Market place trends and developments.
Regulatory changes that may impact the business.
New competitors or customers.
Defining the characteristics of the products which best meet the demands of the marketplace regarding price, performance and packaging.
Monthly design and customer activity reporting.
CRM activity logging.
Assist management in preparation of sales report program strategies.
Assist management in the preparation of annual sales and manufacturing plans.
Perform other duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
BSEE degree is required with a preference for MSEE. A degree in any other engineering discipline, physics or science may be acceptable with appropriate electrical engineering experience.
Strong background in analog electronics is required.
Experience in magnetics product lines and circuit protection solutions will be a significant advantage.
Experience in board-level design required.
Consumer and/or automotive design experience would be advantageous.
Detailed knowledge of assigned markets design platforms and applications is essential.
Interpersonal skills and effective communication with customers and management is key.
Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
Must have excellent time management and organisational skills.
Leadership and presentation (public speaking).
Flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent travel.
Must have a strong work ethic and be culturally sensitive.
Demonstrable ability to find innovative solutions to overcome customer obstacles.
Familiar with Microsoft including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
