Product Director, Property Portfolio - Description The Hartford's Middle Market organization is enhancing its capabilities in the Commercial Property sector. The Property Line of Business Director will serve as a property specialist subject matter expert responsibilities across our Middle Market Property distribution network. This individual should have expertise in Fire and Catastrophe Underwriting, Commercial Marine, and Global Property. As we look to deliver comprehensive client solutions to trading partners, the Product Director will serve as an integral resource working with leadership to assess portfolio performance, tactical underwriting and product needs, as well as recommend knowledge management and simplistic improvements in for our distribution partners allowing The Hartford to successfully build our property book of business. * Identify and report on standard performance metrics and perform quantitative analysis to establish baseline performance and improvement opportunities. * Develop and integrate metrics and KPIs that aid in monitoring the success of strategies and tactics for the Commercial Property line of business. * Develops and maintains a routine cadence for Portfolio assessment within the Line of Business to include/not limited to Catastrophe management, fire/all other perils, geographic, and industry trends, developments and tactical needs to drive profitable growth within the Property line of business * Recognize the need to take action on profit improvement areas and work with necessary teams to recommend solution and delivery to appropriate parties to execute. * Maintain proper and frequent communication among business sponsors, process owners and team members. * Provide consultation and technical underwriting expertise to local office underwriting teams to assist in delivery of our planned financial results * Engages with the Division Underwriting Officers to ensure seamless execution of underwriting initiatives developed across the Property Portfolio * Supporting role with teammates and our Learning and Quality Management organizations and in partnership with business leaders support an agenda which enhances Knowledge Transfer activities including underwriting guidance and training curriculums, improves business process and optimizes customer experience. * Build and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders including MM Sales and Distribution which enables profitable growth, reduced complexity and cultivates a culture of continuous improvement and high customer and employee satisfaction. * Support execution related to underwriting, pricing and regulatory requirements. partner with key stakeholders to identify and eliminate barriers to profitable growth and policy retention. * Prepare executive-level presentations to effectively communicate process challenges and opportunities. * Embraces new ideas, has courageous conversations and collaborates in support of innovation, product development and appetite expansion Qualifications * Bachelor's degree required: CPCU or other relevant industry designation preferred * 10+ years Commercial P&C insurance industry experience required, with background and expertise in underwriting and product development * Strong industry reputation as both a technical and externally facing market leader * Sound financial acumen, understanding of financials and P&L, knowledge and experience with setting and driving an operating plan; track record of setting goals and delivering results * Superior analytical & problem-solving skills, including the ability to encourage new ways of looking at problems, processes and solutions, develop sound recommendations for capitalizing on opportunities and improving results, and generate new ideas for profitable growth, including new product ideas, markets, and target customers *Leadership/management experience, strong mentoring and coaching discipline * Superior communication skills, both oral & written; ability to deal confidently with all levels of the organization, including senior executives internally and externally, field leadership, underwriters and business partners * Team player with outstanding inter-personal, negotiation and organizational influencing skills; excellent stakeholder/relationship management skills and leadership behaviors Leadership Behaviors: * Deliver Outcomes - Demonstrate a bias for action that drives exceptional performance. * Work as a Team - Respect our teammates and work inclusively to achieve the best results. * Build Strong Partnerships - Forge trusted relationships and deliver customer value with integrity. * Strive for Excellence - Continuously improve to reach the highest standards and inspire others to do the same.
