SUMMARY Our Director of Marketing will be a key member of the Marketing team who is responsible for the development and management of a comprehensive marketing strategy for Seattle Sounders FC. This position will directly supervise employees and functions of Marketing, Graphic Design, and Digital and Social Media. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. · Provide management of the Sounders brand via integrated strategies and action plans across multiple platforms including advertising, internal promotions while collaborating with in-stadium entertainment, social media, video production, communications and special events. · Oversee the development of an integrated, fan-centric, multi-channel marketing plan to achieve business and fan engagement goals across Seattle Sounders FC season ticket, single game ticket and group sales, merchandise sales, matchday communication, etc. Collaborate with the VP of Business Strategy & Development to establish sales goals and objectives for the marketing team. · Foster collaboration with the Corporate Partnerships team to ensure fulfillment and effective integration of corporate sponsors into marketing, advertising, and promotional initiatives. Actively participate in partner asset creation discussions with VP of Corporate Partnerships and advise on how best to utilize assets to expand the marketing message for the club. · Responsible for Sounders FC email marketing touchpoints and integrating fan journeys in efforts to market to fan segments and drive brand affinity and incremental revenue. · Assist in research initiatives including surveys, questionnaires, focus groups, etc. to aid in brand and fan development including those produced by other departments. Analyze market trends, recommend changes to marketing and business development strategies based on analysis and feedback. · Develop and execute multi-channel advertising campaigns, including concept development, approval of media buys and promotional programs. Includes working with outside contractors or agencies to produce commercials and other marketing video content when necessary. · Oversee the creative and production of all print marketing and promotional materials, including brochures, posters, and sales collateral. Ensure brand is properly and consistently represented in all internal and external uses, including e-mail, print, digital, out of home, television and radio. · Oversee the evolution of the brand and visual identity - to include creating updating club brand guidelines and style guide. · Advise on the Digital & Social Media team's conversion of brand messaging into compelling digital content through website, mobile app, Facebook/Twitter and other social media channels. · Oversee the management of both the English and Spanish language Sounders FC websites, ensuring consistency and that best practices are followed for optimal user experience. · Oversee the content creation and design development of club's monthly print and digital magazine · Collaborate with Communications / PR department to ensure brand messaging is on-point across all communication outlets, develop activation opportunities for earned media, organize player appearances and media shoots. · Collaborate with Broadcasting to develop broadcast and radio partnerships and support tune-in efforts. · Collaborate with Fan Experience and Operations team to ensure consistent branding and marketing efforts are represented on matchday, fan experiences, and other club events. · Manage multiple departmental budgets and interface with Finance department to ensure compliance with company fiscal policy. Supervisory Responsibilities · Directly supervise employees and functions of Marketing, Graphic Design, and Digital and Social Media. QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. · Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or equivalent; MBA preferred · Minimum 7+ years' experience in the sports and entertainment industry at a company or agency, preferably with extensive sports / soccer experience, and / or familiarity and knowledge of the larger Seattle community · Experience across various marketing disciplines including marketing strategy, brand management, social media, CRM, promotions, and advertising · Experience executing successful social media marketing, advertising, and retargeting campaigns · Experience overseeing designers, providing creative direction · Possess knowledge of and passion for the sport of soccer and an understanding of the various segments of soccer fans · Experience using data and analytics to gain deep understanding of customers and their behaviors across various touch points · Experience with membership related activities including reducing customer churn, nurturing current members, and recruiting new members · An innovative and creative thinker who is not constrained by conventional thinking or established approaches when developing a program that will meet organizational marketing objectives · Ability to develop relationships with senior executives within current and future club partners, as well as with senior level executives within the organization · A leader who can motivate creative teams, contractors, and agencies in campaign strategy, video production, and graphic design to achieve outstanding results · Highly organized, able to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously while prioritizing competing initiatives Outstanding relationship and collaboration skills to work with internal stakeholders, external corporate partners, and affiliated league offices · Comfortable in a start-up like environment with the ability to wear multiple hats when necessary to get the job done · Availability and willingness to work flexible / extended hours, including nights, weekends and holidays as well as matches and events as necessary PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
