New York Life's primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States. Every agent is affiliated with one of our 117 General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales. Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations.

Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing and communications supports our agents and field managers. The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the women's markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.

Responsibilities
  • Promote investment products (i.e. Income Annuities, Variable Annuities, Fixed Annuities, and Mutual Fund) sales through New York Life career agency in specific General Offices (GO).
  • Responsible for achieving and exceeding the assigned territory and individual General Office sales objectives by:
    • Proactively working with the Regional Manager (RM) to strategize and drive sales-related strategies and tactics for investment products
    • Proactively working with Managing Partneres (MP) and General Office (GO) management team to strategize and implement sales-related strategies and tactics. This includes delivering solution selling to GO management through group and individual development exercises.
    • Work with Agents to implement sales strategies and tactics through education, training and support. Provide development through individual, group and field based instruction.
    • Provide necessary training, education and sales support to agents and GO Management within assigned territory.
    • Act as liason between agents, managers, and home office partners.
    • Work with Internal Sales Consultant to drive production.
  • Provide weekly reports identifying field activity and opportunities.
  • Perform planning and administrative tasks.
  • This position entails extensive travel in the assigned territory.
  • Manage travel and entertainment expenses within budget.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • years of related work experience in the insurance field
  • Track record of continued sales success
  • Current Series 6, 63, and Life and Health Insurance License required
  • Detailed understanding of the insurance industry and market, our products and those of our competitors highly desired
  • Strong communication and professional presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively convey our priorities and creatively wholesale our products.
  • Takes initiative and good problem solver.
  • Sound decision maker.
  • Bilingual/Multilingual is a plus.
