The Role: Project Assurance Senior Analyst

The Location: Charlottesville, Virginia or Denver, CO

The Team: The Internal Audit Project Assurance Team is responsible for conducting ongoing, independent assessments of key S&P Global projects from initiation through the post-implementation phase. We evaluate the project's governance structure, project management processes, and the project team's effectiveness at managing the risks and dependencies that can impact successful project delivery. We provide real-time observations on project performance to the project leads and work with them to identify and implement action plans on improvement areas. We provide regular and on-demand updates and reports to Internal Audit, Global Risk Assurance, S&P Global senior management, Audit Committee and Ratings Boards.

The Impact: The Internal Audit Project Assurance Senior Analyst will provide essential information on how the company is executing on select high-priority strategic initiatives, and provide real-time and ongoing feedback on how well the project is performing. This will ensure that the project leads and senior management can take the appropriate preventive and corrective action steps before a risk arises that could jeopardize project success.

  • Ability to work with management across S&P Global on a variety of strategic projects and establish relationships with key stakeholders in each Division of the company
  • Act as an individual contributor with responsibility to provide independent assessments on key strategic, divisional and enterprise projects
  • Prepare report, dashboards and scorecards on project assurance assessments and sharing observations with to Internal Audit and senior management across the company
  • Use project management experience and contribute to the development of the Internal Audit project assurance methodology and tools used to manage the program

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct independent and ongoing assessments on key strategic and divisional projects and record observations on project assurance tracking tool
  • Report observations to the project leads, work with them to create structured and time-bound corrective action plans, and monitor action plans through closure
  • Support Internal Audit Project Assurance special projects and process improvement efforts
  • Update and maintain IA Project Assurance documents and records
  • Assist the Project Assurance Director in preparing reports, dashboards and scorecards on project assurance engagements that will be reviewed with the Project Leads, Internal Audit, S&P Global Senior Management, Audit Committee and other key stakeholder
  • Act as an ambassador and to keep Project Leads, Project Team Members and key stakeholders on active IA Project Assurance engagements informed on enhancements to project assurance framework and processes

Basic Qualifications:
  • 4 years plus of Project Management and / or Audit experience within financial services or technology industry preferred
  • PMP Certification and / or relevant experience managing large business and technology projects
  • Experience leading Agile and Waterfalls projects, and Lean/process improvement initiatives with proven ability to manage multiple demands successfully
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with professionalism and possess strong presentation skills among all levels of management
  • Strong process alignment and analytical / interpersonal skills
  • Team player, comfortable to work with people from an array of cultural backgrounds
  • Strong relationship leadership and conflict resolution skills by working and coordinating with internal / external partners
  • Ability to assess projects from the initiation through post-implementation phases
  • Excellent written, verbal and negotiating skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to lead change and have a strong organizational change management background
  • Skills in working with new departments as they implement new process and procedures
  • Strong accounting and reporting knowledge and or experience
  • Big 4 or consulting experience preferred
  • Bachelors in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related technical fields preferred
