Subject Standards Leader - Science
Posted on Jan 19, 2019 by Inspiration Trust
Permanent, full time
Starting Easter 2019
Based in Norwich, with regular work across Norfolk and north Suffolk
The Inspiration Trust is at an exciting point in its development. Twice ranked the country's top comprehensive secondary schools group, we are investing significantly in our long-term curriculum development to ensure our students continue to have the very best support for the future.
As part of this strategy we are seeking a dynamic and inspirational leader and secondary science specialist to work as part of our school improvement and curriculum team. This is an exciting opportunity for a high-performing science expert with a proven track record in achieving exceptional outcomes to have a significant impact across several schools. We would particularly welcome applications from biology specialists.
The successful candidate will be integral to our school improvement strategy and will take a leadership role within that, as part of a wider science team. A substantial part of the role will include teaching and leading high-quality intervention and revision. The successful candidate will understand that high-impact teaching is informed by effective curriculum design and a knowledge-thorough pedagogy. We are seeking a leader who can not only deliver this in their own classroom, but who can lead on this across the Trust, coaching and supporting other teachers.
The role could include other educational phases in the future, but will initially be secondary-focused. Experience of primary and/or sixth form teaching would be desirable but not essential.
Our schools include many in areas of historic low attainment, trends we are committed to reversing. You will play a significant part in our mission to dramatically improve life chances for disadvantaged young people in Norfolk and north Suffolk.
There will be opportunities to play a part in our school-based Initial Teacher Training programme training the classroom leaders of the future, and to contribute to our longer-term curriculum development work, making this a very exciting role.
The Trust has a strong programme of professional development for its staff, with regular courses run by some of the best-known names in education.
The role will be based at our Norwich curriculum centre but will involve regular work at our schools across Norfolk and north Suffolk. The Trust may offer support with relocation costs for candidates moving from outside the area.
