BigBear AI is actively seeking to add an Business Analyst (BA) to our top-notch software development team working on the Department of the Army’s Army Synchronization Tool (AST). The successful candidate will be a self-started who is equally talented in individual and team focused work displaying a keen understanding of Army and Department of Defense systems with excellent communication and problem solving skills coupled with creativity, innovative thought and a vision for what could be.


The position will start remote and may transition to on-site at US Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) HQ on Ft. Bragg, NC.

What you will do:

You will help shape the future of how AST will continue to evolve, enabling the US Army to better see itself, deconflict friction points and visualize the Army’s readiness building process. This is an excellent opportunity to join the BigBear data dominance team facilitating the Army’s transition to a more agile data informed, and data driven force.


Evaluate customer functional processes and systems, anticipate requirements, discover areas for improvement, and develop solutions.

Compile new, or application upgrades, to Army functional AST requirements for review, analysis and evaluation.

Document requirements, define scope, objectives and functionality.

Coordinate functional requirements with user experience (UX) team formulating conceptual mockups with visual and technical approaches to requirements.

Create and document specific functional capabilities via storyboards for user approval and subsequent use by the development team.

Conduct in-person and technically assisted meetings and presentations to share/solicit ideas and findings with customers and stakeholders.

Perform requirements analysis.

Formally document and communicate analysis to stakeholders.

Effectively communicate insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management in both technical and lay-person terms through storyboards, animations, text based documentation and other technical means.

Work directly with clients, program manager and technical development staff.

Perform application review ensuring developed capabilities align to requirements.

Track progress of prioritized development tasks, schedules though recurring reports and coordination meetings with the customer.

What you need to have:

Must have an active Secret, or higher, security clearance.

Minimum of fifteen years-experience with Department of the Army, Department of Defense and/or Joint Staff force structure, programs, automation systems, and strategic operational requirements.

Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field of study, or equivalent work experience.

Demonstrated excellence in analytical and conceptual thinking skills.

An ability to rapidly internalize unfamiliar concepts and systems, determining how best to leverage automation to resolve inefficiencies and improve collaboration.

Ability to influence stakeholders to determine acceptable / feasible solutions.

Proven documentation skills and demonstrable competency with: Microsoft Office applications - Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, Share Point, Teams and Access.

Demonstrable experience leveraging relational databases to support application development. Microsoft SQL preferred but not required.

Ability to impact operations and effect change without being confrontational.
