The National Security business has a software team based at our Manchester hub, where flexible working pattern from home, our office and across client sites is available.
Working for Roke as a Software Engineer, you will apply your skills across a diverse portfolio of projects from research or rapid prototypes through to agile operational solutions. Consequently, we are looking for individuals able to work across projects at multiple different stages. Your projects will deliver significant customer impact.
As a Software Engineer at Roke you will be expected to;

Work as part of a cross-functional, agile delivery team to develop solutions for our customers.
Operate flexibly and effectively as part of a hybrid distributed team.
Research and integrate new tools, frameworks and languages.
Engage with the wider Roke team to contribute to business development and innovation activities.
Depending on desire, there are opportunities to operate as a Scrum Master, Product Owner or Solution Architect.

As a Software Engineer at Roke it would be great if you were familiar with some of the below;

AWS cloud native services, preferably certified at Practitioner or Associate level.
Agile ways of working using Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and CI/CD.
Frontend development and UX e.g. Vue or React.
Containers e.g. Docker or Kubernetes.
Infrastructure as Code e.g. Terraform, Ansible or vagrant.
Modern software languages such as Python, Java or golang.
Version control and project management using Git, GitLab, GitHub or JIRA.
Machine learning frameworks.
Data analytics, DataOps, data visualisation and techniques for acquiring and fusing data.
Linux and working with open source software.
Windows automation using Powershell.
Other deployment platforms such as Azure, CGP or OpenShift.
