The Louisiana Public Health Institute (LPHI), a leading public health institute known for both its preventative and responsive portfolios of work, supports the health of communities across Louisiana and the Gulf Coast region by partnering with state and federal government agencies, universities, foundations, and local partners to implement evidence-based population health initiatives. In addition to serving as a convener and thought leader, LPHI works as a health accelerator to catalyze the potential of the organizations and communities it serves across the Gulf Coast region. LPHI is known for its diverse portfolio of work to advance behavioral health, clinical transformation, healthy communities, health services research, HIV/STIs, family health, tobacco prevention and control and has been recognized nationally for its disaster response work after Hurricane Katrina and the BP Oil spill. Under the leadership of Joe Kimbrell, LPHI's Founder and Chief Executive Officer, the organization has made significant contributions to support the health of communities in Louisiana and across the Gulf Coast region. The organization is now at a pivotal moment, building on two decades remarkable work and is poised to welcome a new CEO who will usher in an exciting new era and build on its success and expertise., Nonprofit Professionals Advisory Group is an executive search and consulting firm dedicated to serving the mission driven community. We partner with global mission-driven clients to deliver highly-tailored, innovative, and strategic senior- and executive-level search services. . The new CEO will join a highly respected, dedicated, and talented team of professionals and a committed board and can expect to engage the following core challenges and opportunities: Articulate and advance the strategic direction of LPHI to support the health of communities in the region. The new CEO will work in partnership with the board and staff to both continue LPHI's strong leadership in current key program areas while leading the development of innovative strategies that advance LPHI's long term vision of improved health across the region. S/he will analyze, assess, and map the evolving health landscape, identifying emerging areas where LPHI can be most effective, and develop a compelling and comprehensive forward-thinking agenda that is coordinated and integrated with partner organizations, government, and community stakeholders and is informed by national trends and best practices in the field of public health. Leverage strategic relationships with funders, government agencies, and other nonprofit organizations. The new CEO will continue to position LPHI as a trusted, thoughtful convener, creating opportunities for a variety of cross sector stakeholders to come together and explore ways to advance health for people across the region. S/he will also expand LPHI's funding base by nurturing relationships with a wide variety of funders, locally and nationally, that align with LPHI's mission and vision and that foster long term sustainable partnerships. S/he will test and expand new business models and revenue streams that leverage LPHI's unique work across public health, health systems, and data infrastructure to advance the field and diversify the organization's funding streams. Expand and deepen relationships with communities across the state. The new CEO will work to strengthen relationships with communities most impacted by the social determinants of health to ensure that LPHI's work is responsive to their unique needs and contexts. Additionally, the CEO will champion and support efforts to promote health equity by assuring that the organization embeds a health equity lens into all aspects of work. S/he will assess LPHI's geographic footprint, identifying and assessing the opportunities for expanded work across the state and southern gulf coast. Strengthen internal organizational infrastructure to support ongoing excellence through a period of change. The new CEO will develop a culture of leadership and inspire staff to carry out the mission of the organization. S/he will mentor and empower LPHI staff across the organization through continued support of a culture of ongoing professional development, team work, mutual accountability, and commitment to the mission. S/he will continually improve services and internal systems and monitor their effectiveness in meeting the organization's mission balanced by responsible fiscal management. Finally, the CEO will maintain a strong, positive, and transparent working relationship with the Board and identify opportunities for strengthened governance and broader diversity on the board. The new CEO will be a senior executive with public health expertise and previous experience working in the Gulf region. S/he should be poised to take on a range of opportunities and challenges, including: articulating and advancing the strategic direction of the organization to support the health of communities in the region, leveraging strategic relationships with funders, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations, expanding and deepening relationships with communities across Louisiana, and strengthening internal organizational infrastructure to support ongoing excellence through a period of change. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a chief executive to lead an established and respected organization in its mission to support the health of communities in Louisiana and across the Gulf Coast region., While no one candidate will embody all the qualifications enumerated below, the ideal candidate will possess many of the following professional and personal abilities, attributes, and experiences: * A minimum of 10 years of experience in senior leadership roles in public health, health policy, social services, or related fields; an advanced degree is required; * Demonstrated knowledge and experience in public health and health policy, with a sophisticated understanding of the current national, state, and local policy issues and trends in the field of public health; broad experience in planning, organizing, and managing health-related organizations with a policy and research focus; * Proven financial, organizational, and personnel management skills to inspire and lead a motivated, engaged, and highly capable team; experience collaborating with and leveraging a talented board; * A proven fundraiser with the ability to build lasting, fruitful partnerships with a wide spectrum of funders; record of delivering results on time and on budget; * Creative and entrepreneurial thinker who can identify opportunities to diversify revenue streams by connecting proven organizational strength to needs in the field; * A demonstrated ability to build strong professional relationships and connect diverse stakeholders with LPHI's work; experience leading large multi-stakeholder, multi-disciplinary initiatives; * Familiarity with the Gulf South region, its history, communities, and culture and the unique dynamic of improving public health in the region; flexibility and sensitivity necessary to work effectively in a wide variety of geographic, political, and cultural settings. * Ambassadorial and authentic leadership style and compelling executive presence; excellent oral and written communication skills and a strong external presence; ability to communicate with and gain the confidence of people from a variety of sectors and settings; * Dedicated to data-driven decision making and evidence-based approaches to inform decisions and improve systems; * High emotional intelligence with an engaging and accessible style that builds trust and confidence across diverse team cultures and priorities; * A healthy sense of humor and appreciation for the creativity, fun, and inspiration that can accompany work in a mission-focused environment. * Ability to travel at least 15% of the time to funders, state-level, and national meetings.
