Are you an experienced DBA? Are you interested in taking the next steps of your career working for a reputable educational facility?
I have an excellent position that has just become available for a database administrator with significant Oracle and SQL experience. The position will work as part of a dedicated applications team offering applications support to third part suppliers and rewriting API's in accordance with their optimisation initiative. This role is extremely versatile and would suit someone who is able to think fast on their feet and work with the team to meet stakeholder expectations, starting ASAP paying up to £45,000 per annum.

*To create, maintain, support, and develop the databases and technical infrastructure underpinning Business Systems applications, comprising of on-premise SQL Server and Oracle databases, cloud-based solutions, and third-party applications.
*To carry out database administration tasks associated with the educational facility systems, including delivering software and system upgrades and patches, monitoring database activity and resource usage, optimising database performance and forecasting future resource needs.
*To ensure that databases are protected by effective support and maintenance activities, working with IT colleagues to ensure that regular backup and recovery routines are in place, along with the formulation, development, documentation and implementation of business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
*To design and implement new application services in support of the educational facility's strategic plan, liaising with 3rd parties and IT colleagues to ensure that technical and operational standards are met in compliance with the educational facility's Information Security Policies and relevant UK and EU legislation.
*Design, implement, test, and maintain complex technical integrations across multiple systems, including in-house, enterprise application and cloud hosted systems, ensuring that data is securely and reliably integrated between business applications.
*To advise senior management on long term strategies and best practice associated with the database services, integrations, and infrastructure.
*To be expert in database and Integration technologies inputting into the decisions about the implementation and operation of new and existing services.
*To take responsibility for ensuring that specialist level database and integration problems affecting the internal IT mission and business critical services are resolved efficiently and effectively.
*To undertake the role of technical lead to manage the full Lifecyle of the facility's services, to manage the implementation and be accountable for technical decisions relating to the service throughout the life cycle. This may include being the project manager or part of the project team.
*To be a member of the Change Advisory Board and the IT Major Incident Team.
