RAN Configuration Specialist

Flint are currently looking for a RAN Configuration Specialist for a long-term contracting opportunity with one of the worlds leading telecom providers.

Job Accountabilities

  • Prepare radio configuration plans based on engagement with performance designers.
  • Scheduling and overseeing service impacting radio parameters changes through the OSS for the radio access network.
  • Implementation of configuration plans to the network, including working outside of normal office hours.
  • Working with configuration processes of Network Element Managers and auditing the network data using Nokia Advanced Configurator (AC) and EdenNet for 2G, 4G and 5G RAN.

Skilled required for the Job

  • Technical: Deep understanding of Mobile Radio Network GERAN/UTRAN/EUTRAN/OSS architectures and the design and operational processes to develop and run the network.
  • Good level of understanding IT environments and specifically Unix/Linux based systems. Excellent Unix/Linux Scripting (including BASH, PERL and PYTHON). Knowledge of all data formats and protocols for northbound interfaces. Knowledge of Virtualisation.
  • Experience of working with databases such as MS Access or Oracle. Manipulating & interpreting multiple sources of complex data to derive both technical design guidelines and strategic recommendations.
  • Storytelling with data: Excellent data analytical skills, with the ability to present findings and derive technical and business recommendations.
  • Education - Relevant degree or HNC/HND equivalent.

Experience you would be expected to have

  • A lot of experience in Mobile Radio Access Network Design with specific experience performing radio configuration tasks and using network element managers.
  • Understanding of network planning and optimisation, with detailed knowledge of Nokia, Huawei or Ericsson OSS platforms and approach to RAN Configuration, understanding data parameter sets and data formats from RAN Network Element Managers - Mandatory
  • Experience of Nokia NetAct, Ericsson ENM and Huawei U2020/MAE.
  • Expert knowledge of XML
  • Experience of coding with Python
  • IP connectivity
  • OSI interfaces
