Senior Policy Advisor

My client is looking for a Senior Policy Advisor to sit within their Healthcare, Standards and Policy Directorate. This position is to develop, review and implement policies that support the regulator's purpose to protect the public by regulating professionals. To provide expert internal strategic briefing and intelligence based on analysis of relevant legislation and the wider healthcare environment.

Key accountabilities

  • Lead the end-to-end development and delivery of policies and guidelines to agreed timelines and in line with best practice, ensuring that they align with the regulator's strategic priorities
  • Deliver expert policy input into project work and broader programmes to support the effective development of organisational initiatives
  • Develop, maintain and influence strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, for example by disseminating policies and providing expert policy advice on our regulatory framework
  • Work with the strategic engagement team to anticipate and respond to external policy drivers, for example by responding to external consultations that are relevant to the regulatory remit
  • Produce briefings and papers for consideration by senior staff
  • Collaborate with communications, research and strategic engagement colleagues to consult with the public, registrants and stakeholders to ensure policy development is informed by their views
  • Maintain and develop our regulatory legislation, and ensure that corporate policies and guidelines comply with regulatory and other, UK and EU legislation
  • Use and contribute to the development of the regulator's policy development methodology
