Active & Connected Project Co-ordinator, 21 hours p/w, 2 year fixed term contract

BDCA are delighted to announce a brand new job opportunity to help our charity launch a bespoke volunteer development programme and inclusive community-building activities to tackle loneliness in Newham. Research by Campaign to End Loneliness found that isolation is as detrimental to health as smoking 15 cigarettes per day! So we are looking for a pioneering and highly skilled leader to help us combat this important local issue. The successful candidate will help disadvantaged and 'harder to reach' adults to develop a sense of purpose and belonging by: BREAKING DOWN BARRIERS - through reducing the stigma surrounding mental health, limiting financial barriers to participation and addressing language barriers and digital exclusion. BRINGING PEOPLE TOGETHER - through creating regular opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds to meet, form peer support networks and get physically active together. BUILDING PEOPLE UP - through upskilling, confidence building and helping people move from service users to service contributors through user steering groups and regular volunteering.

As our Active & Connected project co-ordinator, you will link Newham adults who are isolated, or at risk of social isolation, to opportunities and activities that support a greater sense of wellbeing for them. To succeed, you will need to be motivated with a proactive, can-do attitude. Community minded, you'll be passionate about improving life for people struggling with social isolation.

Please note that all post holders will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
