Specifications Technologist
(Process & Packaging) - To £33,000
To ensure retailer requirements around specifications and artwork are completed in line with their defined critical path, format and timescales. To ensure the correct translation of the development process into manufacturing activity. This will include customer and supplier interaction

Key Areas of Responsibility:
·Customer specifications
oWriting all customer specifications - To ensure they are completed accurately, first time and in line with critical path and retailer format
oReviewing and updating - To maintain on-line specification systems ensuring all live products have an up-to-date specification and obsolete documents are removed
oTo maintain customer on-line systems with contacts, site information and where there has been a change of supplier
oTo remain aware of relevant customer policies and advise the site of changes as appropriate
oTo provide support and take part in external audits and visits as required

·Customer QAS's
oTo Lead on writing all customer QAS's in conjunction with NPD and Technical Team
oReviewing and updating as required

·Artwork
oLiaison with customers and packaging suppliers
oTo maintain an accessible artwork database including cutter guides
oManagement of entire process from NPD handover to printer sign-off
oManging the internal packaging critical path with commercial and planning
oEnsuring legal compliance for own label pack copy

·Packaging specification
oMaintaining full specification library for all packaging before launch
oTo co-ordinate and complete packaging artwork sign off ensuring deadlines are met
o To ensure deliveries of new printed packaging material meet with agreed specification

·Process translation
oLeading the management of critical path in conjunction with all departments.
oEnsuring all processes around any product development are implemented
oWorking with the operations team to ensure packaging used fits with manufacturing capability for optimum production
oWorking with the NPD team to facilitate trial work
oEnsuring appropriate manufacturing paperwork and instructions are developed to allow right first-time launch
oTo liaise with the Manufacturing and Technical Teams to ensure optimum efficiency of production process and food safety. This includes ingredient review pre-launch and appropriate process review.

Person Specification
For this Specifications Technologist role you will need experience of writing Technical Specifications within a food manufacturing related environment. Qualified with a BSc food related degree or relevant experience in a similar role. A good understanding of technical food standards such as Food Safety and Quality Standards are required. Also excellent knowledge of Excel and it functions and experience of using computer data systems such as SAGE and specification systems such as QADEX would be advantageous
