Our team helps our clients with legal consulting services. As a qualified UK lawyer, you'll focus on providing sound and pragmatic advice to our clients on a range of contentious and non contentious employment law matters.
We are a member of the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) international network of firms. The Legal network in the UK consists of 42 Partners and Directors and a 350 strong team. As well as project-based, specialist legal advice, we offer our clients ongoing general counsel support. We are part of the largest global network of lawyers and have access to legal expertise in over 86 countries.
The Corporate team focuses on corporate and business structuring projects ranging from significant multi-territory reorganisation projects to smaller intra-group reorganisations, as well as management advisory and incentive projects, start up investment advice and other company law services. Our clients include numerous household names, multinational corporations and listed groups as well as privately owned companies, inbound groups and high net worth individuals. Our teams often work with tax, corporate finance, deals, advisory and other professionals from within PwC international network to deliver a joined up service to our clients.
About the role
As a general corporate/commercial lawyer within the team, you will have experience at a well-regarded law firm of advising corporate and private equity clients in the deals environment and have a strong grasp of corporate reorganisations. We are looking for someone with a broad range of corporate and commercial experience.
You will be based in our Manchester or Birmingham office, and you will be called upon to play a key role in delivering a wide variety of corporate projects. You will also be expected to regularly engage and work with our Corporate team across the UK (based in London and Birmingham) on these projects. This role will provide you with an excellent opportunity to work with other legal specialists to help grow our wider legal practice. You will play a central role in developing our business, via networking and building relationships within PwC and externally with clients.
Like the rest of our team, we expect the person in this role will enjoy an interesting and challenging workload. We work on a wide range of projects across the specialisms covered by our group; most of our projects involve understanding and applying technical areas of law in detail. A large proportion of our work is carried out alongside non-lawyers in PwC such as tax and deals advisers. Not only does this give us access to projects that other law firms don't see, but it has helped our lawyers develop a deeper understanding of business issues and the commercial context for our advice. Unquestionably, PwC is one of the best known businesses in the world; the PwC brand attracts top tier businesses and many of our clients are household names.
You will be expected to work proactively under your own initiative and to liaise effectively with other advisers and members of the team to deliver our projects. Organisational skills, the ability to work under time pressure within a deals environment and the ability to work as part of large teams with broad skill-sets are key attributes we are looking for.
The role offers high levels of responsibility, the satisfaction of working on interesting and challenging assignments and participation in a successful team. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and keen to embrace the challenge.
