We are looking to recruit a Planning Policy Team Manager who is looking to build their reputation and portfolio of planning experience in a successful, rapidly growing consultancy based in East Anglia.
Breckland District covers an area of 1,305 kilometres and in one the largest rural districts in England. Nestling just on the Norfolk/Suffolk border Breckland is centred round the five main market towns of Attleborough, Dereham, Swaffham, Thetford and Watton. There are also 112 parishes in Breckland but the majority of the population is centred round the five market towns
We are currently looking to recruit an experienced, motivated individual to lead our successful Planning Policy Team based in Dereham. This will involve taking a lead role on the planning policy service provided to Breckland Council. As part of this, there is the responsibility for agreeing and delivering an annual programme of planning policy work for the Council and overseeing the successful delivery of a wide range of projects.
As our Planning Policy Manager you will:
Ø Manage a team of planning professionals delivering the annual work programme of planning policy work for Breckland Council and consultancy commissions;
Ø Provide support and advice to the development management team, on strategically important planning applications, enforcement and appeals;
Ø Provide timely, comprehensive and accurate reports and recommendations on planning policy issues;
Ø Attend and present to Breckland Council's Committees;
Your experience will include
Ø A minimum eight years post qualification work in planning policy work;
Ø A proven track record of leading in the delivery of Local Plan documents, including ability to use your initiative to shape the strategic direction of the plan and sufficient knowledge and understanding of the full range of technical matters involved (e.g. housing, environment, infrastructure etc);
Ø Experience of, or the clear potential for, team leadership, including ability to prioritise, manage and delegate tasks;
Ø A degree qualification in Town and Country Planning or equivalent experience; along with Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute;
Ø A thorough knowledge of current planning legislation, and issues relating to local plan preparation;
Ø Good verbal and written communication skills to include an ability to make concise focused oral presentations to a wide range of audiences;
