THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
You'll be an experienced QS with the ability to manage the contractual and financial aspects of construction projects to deliver value for money. The post will require some guidance and support from the Quantity Surveyor Service Manager. You'll be a customer friendly, efficient and connected in how you work; make the most of modern technologies, workspaces and ways of working to provide a customer focused and efficient service and bring forward ideas for service improvement.
ABOUT THE JOB
Your role will be to prepare cost estimates, cost plans and cash flow profiles for projects, by working out quantities and costs of materials, time and labour using BICS indices and pricing books. Update the finance system and liaise with the Senior Finance Manager for Assets.
Provide advice on contract types and procurement methods to ensure the most appropriate approach is used for projects you are responsible for, in order to control cost and mitigate risks associated with project delivery.
Produce tender and contract documentation for complex projects and programmes, working with the client and technical experts to ensure the employer's requirements are clearly stated and risks associated with the cost, quality and time are mitigated against. Evaluate tender submissions and make recommendations for contract award.
Monitor project spend and measure and value contractor's works on site to ensure correct payments are made. Manage own workload to a high degree of efficiency and know when to seek guidance and assistance from the Quantity Surveyor Service Manager. Provide guidance and support to Quantity Surveyors to assist with their development.
Degree in quantity surveying or professional qualification accredited by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Membership of the RICS.
Provision of Quantity Surveying services on complex, large scale construction projects.
Preparation of accurate cost estimates, cost plans and cash flow profiles for complex projects and programmes.
Preparation of tender and contract documentation.
£36,363 to £41,007 Per Annum - Plus £10K Market Rate Supplement
24 Day holidays + BH (increases with service)
Final Salary Pension scheme
Business mileage rates of 45p per mile
