Bid Manager - Innovation

Ixion Innovation is looking for a talented and motivated Bid Manager to be part of a small, friendly team of specialists based in Leicestershire, reporting to the Head of Innovation. Your role will be to support businesses and researchers to access the grant funding they need to take cutting-edge concepts closer to market.
You will be part of a highly successful grant funding team, working with clients to secure grants of up to £5 million. There are junior and senior positions available for an incredibly exciting role in research and innovation, requiring someone with both a passion for innovation and an understanding of business and industry. The role is open to people with any level of experience.
The key responsibilities of a Bid Manager include, but are not limited to:
Authoring high quality grant funding bids that will be entering highly competitive funding calls, creating articulate, concise and compelling content
Managing a portfolio of bids, liaising with clients, partners and colleagues to meet strict deadlines
Working with clients in different and diverse technology areas, such as high-speed satellite communications, materials recycling, medical implants and cyber security
Analysing, understanding and communicating the client's business model, using your knowledge of supply chains, market analysis, business plans, IP management and competitor analysis

The key skills and qualities of a Bid Manager:
Should have at least a first degree or master's degree in a science, engineering or business-related field
Strong organisational skills, and the ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with clients at the most senior level
Must be computer literate, especially in MS Office
Must have proficient research skills (e.g. market data, patent searching)
An understanding of innovation processes and grant funding schemes are desirable, but not essential (full training will be given on this)
