Based at our Head Office at Cornerstone, the Housing Support and Advice Officer will ensure that our customers receive an excellent housing service at the first point of contact with Stockport Homes. This is a 2 year fixed term contract.

Providing comprehensive advice to those in housing need which includes providing practical support to a range of applicants, including those who may have difficulty engaging in the Choice Based Lettings scheme, you will assess applications and carry out quality checks in particular those that are highly pointed or suspected of fraud in line with policies and procedures.

Contacting and interviewing customers who may be vulnerable and providing advice and support on all options open to them through the re-housing process, you will carry out personal interviews with customers at the main office, over the telephone or at their current accommodation and deal with enquiries and correspondence concerning the Homechoice Service.

You must also asses and input applications accurately and be able to explain the rehousing process to customers in a clear, concise manner; referring to legal processes under the guidance of the Housing Options Officers where required and progressing rehousing for customers at risk of becoming homeless.

With a demonstrable ability and passion for delivering a high-quality service to customers, candidates must be able to adapt to new ideas and contribute to the development of services and be willing to develop their knowledge of housing and homelessness issues. Able to work well under pressure with an exemplary, positive attitude, you must be able to think laterally and be creative to solve problems whilst communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
