Science Communications Trainee

Applications are invited for a Science Communications Trainee to join the Business Development and Communications Group at the Earlham Institute, based in Norwich, UK.

Background:

The Earlham Institute's research brings together a wealth of expertise in biosciences, bioinformatics, high performance computing and statistics to understand complex biological systems in plants and animals and their interaction with the environment. The research interests of the Institute are extremely varied, providing us with excellent material to drive our "digital first approach" - generating interesting, diverse content across social media channels and on our website.

The role:

The Business Development & Communications Team is looking to recruit someone who wants to learn the ropes of working in a science communications team. The role will be varied and interesting for anyone looking to establish themselves in the field of science communications, or more generally in the field of communications, marketing and PR. You will be joining a multi-skilled and innovative team, with the chance to get to grips with a variety of important aspects of working in such a dynamic environment, as well as being introduced to diverse skill sets.

The ideal candidate:

The successful candidate will have at least 5 A-C grade GSCEs and it would be beneficial to have knowledge of the sciences, particularly biology. They will have Social Media experience and be comfortable working with a variety of people across the Institute. The Science Communications Trainee must have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.

Additional information:

Salary on appointment will be within the range £16,835 to £17,860 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This post is for a contract of 6 months.
