The British Cardiovascular Society (BCS) is a membership organisation with charitable status. The BCS plays a pivotal role in the setting of standards, and through a variety of activities influences the quality of cardiology practice in hospitals throughout the UK. It has a broad education portfolio, contributes to specialist training and examinations and has increasing involvement in research activities.

We have a vacancy for a Membership and Affiliated Societies Manager based at our office in London.

The post-holder will be joining the BCS at a critical time as we seek to ensure focussed support on all aspects of our membership services for approximately 3,000 members as well as leading on our growth strategy across the UK and internationally. The post holder will be an excellent operational manager with a focus on service improvement, business efficiency and be able to inspire a team of experienced staff to deliver first rate services.

As well as improving the delivery of core membership services and services to our affiliated societies, the post holder will be involved in a number of change projects. These include: reviewing our membership model and related benefits and leading on the transition arrangements working with officers and staff across the BCS; developing working practices within the team to support a more integrated approach to service delivery; supporting a digital transformation project including transitioning to a new CRM system and development of a new BCS website and microsites for some of the Affiliated Societies. The post holder will have responsibility for providing first rate membership management and services for seven of the eighteen affiliated societies who work in partnership with the BCS whom collectively have a further 5,000 members.

The role includes leading a team of three administrators ensuring seamless delivery of services, whilst developing the membership function in line with our five year business strategy and plans.
The post holder will have excellent interpersonal skills and well-honed management skills with an ability to build strong service relationships with internal stakeholders and the Affiliate Societies.

The post holder will therefore have a real opportunity to contribute to and help shape these changes and services, not only within the membership team but across the range of our business activities.

The post holder will have a minimum of three years' experience of successfully managing a team in a fast paced organisational change environment. We are looking for someone who is be confident in their abilities to take this function forward bringing expert knowledge and developing a high performing team bringing about significant improvements and efficiencies in service delivery.
