The main duties involved with this role are:


Ensuring delivery of forage analytical services.

Logging receipt of samples and keeping organised and detailed electronic and hard-copy records of all reports generated.

Conducting accurate analysis on fresh grass and silage using NIRS and ICP-OES techniques.

Writing informative and scientifically accurate forage reports based on NIRS and mineral analysis results.

Interpretation of rumen audits and the subsequent generation of rumen reports.

Maintain stock levels of chemicals and laboratory consumables. Maintain supplies of rumen audit/forage sampling kits and distribution of these to RSMs / agents when required

Develop new methods and perform non-routine analysis

Occasional travel to other sites in order to meet with relevant peers may be required. This may also include international travel.



A minimum 2.1 degree (or equivalent) in an analytical science (chemistry, biochemistry) or related discipline

Laboratory experience (previous analytical lab experience advantageous)

Good quality IT skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Driving licence advantageous
