Elders Project Co-ordinator, 18 hours p/w, 3 year fixed term contract

Our award-winning Active & Connected Elders Project is looking for an organised, caring, highly skilled Manager with a genuine heart for improving the health and wellbeing of older people in Newham. With a good level of experience in the field of adult health and social care, you will focus on coordinating and developing preventative health and well-being services for older people. You will share our conviction that older people should be honoured and supported to live life to the full. Funded by the City Bridge Trust, this new post holder will oversee the delivery and development of the service whilst supervising 2 Project Assistants and an integral volunteer team and user steering group. You will work alongside a team highly experienced in community development and support for older people. Together you will coordinate a wide range of social groups, exercise classes, educational activities and support services accessed by over 400 elders each week as well as regular celebration events and outings that "add years to life and life to years".

This is your opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of older people in Newham through the development of grass-roots community engagement. In many ways, the role and the project will be shaped by your talents, experience and determination to develop excellent services for older people. We are looking for an entrepreneurial initiator to develop and launch new added-value services such a day care service to tackle isolation and inactivity amongst elders with higher-level care needs. The ideal candidate will be equally competent working with both people and paperwork. You will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, project management and communication skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure.

Please note that all post holders will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
