An exiting position has become available within the Peripatetic Team for a Specialist Substance Misuse Social Worker.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated part time, 18.5 hours, Grade 11 (Level 3) Social Worker. The post will be located across East and Central Dorset to provide support to the Ferndown, Christchurch, Purbeck and North Dorset Locality Teams. There will be an expectation of some flexible working to support the West Dorset Locality Teams.

Alongside 2 other substance misuse social workers you will work with both Adult Locality Teams and Children's Services in providing assessments and support to those adults affected by problematic substance misuse. The substance misuse posts are relatively new posts, following Dorset County Councils review of substance misuse services and you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of these posts.

You will be required to take the lead in supporting and working with locality teams where substance misuse issues have been identified. This could include undertaking care act assessments, facilitating referrals into structured treatment, assessments to assess the impact of substance misuse on parenting capacity, individual pieces of agreed work with both service users and carers, to provide support in managing risk or safeguarding issues and to provide advice and guidance to locality workers.

Previous experience of working with people affected by substance misuse is required.

Please contact John Fellows on for any additional information.

You must have a degree in Social Work or equivalent, be registered with the HCPC and be able to fulfil the travel requirements of the post
