The Molecular Targeted Therapies (MTT) Group at Roche is seeking an experienced and highly motivated research associate to join our oncology drug discovery team focused on the discovery of novel small molecules to treat cancer patients with high unmet medical need. MTT is part of Roche's Oncology Discovery and Translational Area (oDTA), located at the Research Innovation Center in Basel.
You will play a role in advancing our portfolio and contributing to development of the next generation cancer targeted therapies. You expected to be flexible and dynamic in order to quickly respond and execute in the highly demanding field of early discovery. You will work as part of a team of associates and scientists to validate new targets and progress projects in the Oncology Discovery portfolio until entry into clinic. This exciting position provides potential for development for a highly skilled lab technician who has scientific curiosity and excellent qualifications in experimental techniques and lab management.
In this position you will: Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to): Address fundamental scientific questions by being responsible for the design and execution of experiments in a timely manner under the leadership of the assigned lab head
Independently propose, plan and conduct specific and routine in vitro studies to explore new targets for cancer therapy
Developing and optimizing assays using 96/384-well microtiter assay formats
Conduct data analysis and keep accurate electronic records
Accountable for running a laboratory with respect to safety (BSL1/BSL2), maintenance, infrastructure, inventory and ordering
Analyze, interpret, report and present data from different sources and draw relevant conclusions
Share knowledge by enthusiastic collaboration with other scientists and associates inside and outside the group
Qualifications: Master degree or equivalent in biochemistry, molecular cell biology or related discipline with at least 2 years of experience, or a Bachelor degree with at least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry Related Experience and Skills:
Proficient and hands-on experience in a wide range of molecular and cellular biology methods (RNAi, CRISPR, qRT-PCR, cloning, transient/stable cell line generation, growth assays, western blotting, ELISA, CTG, HTRF) as well as imaging systems (Incucyte, Operetta) is desired.
Ability to perform tissue culture and experience in compound screening in cell-based assays is a must.
Basic knowledge in statistics and the analysis of assay data is required.
Experience in running a lab with respect to safety, maintenance, infrastructure, inventory and data reporting is required.
Experience in cancer cell biology and/or drug discovery is a plus.
Hands-on experience immunoassays: in-cell western, AlphaLISA, Luminex, FACS is a plus.
