We are currently looking to expand our Transport modelling team in various locations across the Integrated Transport division here at Mott MacDonald. The various opportunities within the team mean you will be involved with a range of transport planning and modelling projects in an Assistant, Chartered, Senior or Principal modeller capacity with responsibility for delivering modelling work using our best practice guidelines.

Job description

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

* Participating in or leading strategic multi-modal modelling and/or highway modelling projects
* Project and task involvement or management on modelling projects to include survey programmes, model development, calibration, validation, demand forecasting and economic appraisal
* Checking outputs for compliance with quality requirements and industry best practice and motivate others to do so as well
* Organise, train and mentor other modelling resources in order to ensure project delivery and staff / team development
* Provide key inputs to the development of business cases and scheme assessments
* Liaise with clients and other project stakeholders
* Undertake business development activities including proposal writing

Candidate specification

As a Senior or Principal Transport Modeller, you will be committed to providing high quality, affordable and innovative solutions as well as advice to clients within the transportation sector.

You will be able to demonstrate a mixture of the following:

* Numerical degree (BSc/MSc) or equivalent ideally within a transport related discipline
* Proven experience leading and managing major modelling projects
* Project delivery experience including programme, commercial and financial management
* Skilled in leading and managing major modelling projects and in the development of robust models to support decision-making
* A history of innovation and involvement in external professional activities
* In-depth experience in developing highway and public transport models from first principles
* Prior experience supporting junior team members in their career including transferring knowledge and applying transport models
* Ideally you will have previously been involved in business development activities and have a strong understand of the wider transport planning/ engineering environment
* Modelling software experience using SATURN, VISUM, CUBE or Diadem
* Experience in variable demand modelling and forecasting (respecting WebTAG guidance)
* Survey design, survey management and data analysis skills
* Expertise in Geographic Information System (GIS), MAPINFO or ARC
* Knowledge of microsimulation software such as VISSIM, PARAMICS, AIMSUN
* Knowledge of the Manchester model, C# and SQL is desirable

As an Assistant Transport Modeller, you will be able to demonstrate the following:

* BSc/MSc degree (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Physics or Engineering
* An interest in both numerical modelling and the transportation industry
* A history of innovation and involvement in external professional activities
