We recognise the need to incorporate an understanding of ecological systems in our services, and so we maintain a full range of ecology and biodiversity expertise in-house. Our ecology team provide vital services to external clients and other teams within Mott MacDonald, and they are growing in response to recent success of project wins. As part of this growth, we are keen to recruit a principal/senior ecologist to lead a team of ecologists in our Highways Environmental Services team based in Croydon. About the role..
You will lead our service delivery and development to existing internal and external clients and help to win new business for the wider team. You will also have the opportunity and scope to develop your own specialism, offer new services across the sector, and potentially become a national player in influencing the ecology market in the UK. There is an opportunity to take the role of Project Manager, and we offer the opportunity to become qualified through the Association for Project Management, should this be a path you wish your career to take.
Chartered Environmentalist or Chartered Ecologist
BSc in an ecology related subject
Full member of CIEEM
Experience in leading and directing teams of field surveyors on large-scale projects
Excellent experience in the UK ecological consultancy market, with a strong external-facing, client-orientated approach
Excellent understanding of UK nature conservation legislation
Experience in undertaking ecological impact assessments for EIAs and Habitat Regulation Assessments
Willingness and/or experience in managing and training junior staff
Excellent protected species knowledge and experience; ideally a holder of at least one protected species licence and of Natural England mitigation licences for at least one species within the last five years
Excellent project and financial management experience, with a proven ability to manage teams and input to large infrastructure projects
Proven track record in winning work
