The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position at the UF is a highly visible role that serves as a strategic business partner to the President, Provost, and other senior leaders while frequently engaging with the Board of Trustees. It is expected that the next CFO be someone who possesses the agility, horsepower, and value-additive mindset to execute on the mandate afforded by the October 2018 University of Florida Governance Standards to further the University of Florida's (UF) "One UF" Strategic mission and to ensure appropriate visibility and communication with the UF Board of Trustees (BOT), such that the BOT can effectively fulfill its responsibility as UF's governing board and so that each trustee can carry out his/her fiduciary duties to UF while serving as a member of the BOT. To realize the "One UF" vision, the CFO will provide financial oversight and financial planning for the entirety of the university's portfolio of operations, which includes the University's 16 direct support organizations (DSOs). To accomplish this, the CFO will establish matrix reporting relationships with all CFO-related positions within the existing DSOs and affiliates. The CFO is a key member of the President's Leadership Cabinet and will frequently and regularly interact with the President, Board of Trustees, and University-wide leadership. Reporting to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the CFO will be an energetic and accomplished financial leader with a passion for the mission and core values of the University of Florida. The CFO will work across the $6 billion enterprise to optimize the University's decision-making capabilities and inspire the highest standards of financial performance. The CFO serves as an institutional catalyst, stimulating sound financial management practices across the organization that support both change and the achievement of the strategic and financial objectives of the University. The CFO also serves as a role model for how to engage a variety of individuals with different perspectives to develop creative solutions to resources constraints. More specifically, key responsibilities include: + Oversee the integration of all financial functions, including: reporting, cash management, investments, collections, borrowing, cash flows, treasury, and bonding. + Develop, evaluate, and communicate short- and long-term fiscal strategies that align with established University goals; such strategies will incorporate the use of budget and data analyses, financial planning, resource assessment, financial modeling, and forecasts. + Advise the President and Senior Vice Presidents on the allocation and administration of the University budget, while proactively positioning the University to best navigate a dynamic financial landscape. + Serve as a member of the Board of Directors at UF Health. + Provide financial oversight and financial planning for University's 16 direct support organizations (DSOs). + Establish matrix reporting relationships with all CFO-related positions within the existing DSOs and affiliates. At a minimum, each will have a dotted-line relationship to this position. + Represent the University's financial plans to all constituents. + Manage relationships with financial institutions. + Provide leadership to financial reporting and analysis and ensure that all fiscal-related policies and procedures are in compliance with all regulatory requirements and optimize the University's benefits. + Perform fiscal analyses for legislative and campus-wide initiatives. + Analyze the University's revenue streams, financial ratios, and proposals for capital projects and develop alternative strategies, as appropriate. Advertised Salary: Compensation will be commensurate with experience and will consist of a competitive salary, a comprehensive benefits package and relocation assistance, if necessary. Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and ten years of appropriate experience. Preferred Qualifications: + MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred + Ten years of significant fiscal management responsibility with direct responsibility in areas of fiscal analysis, forecasting, borrowing, accounting, and financial reporting + Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of financial management practices in higher education of large governmental or business entities + Advanced verbal and written communication skills and experience in board presentations + Excellent analytical and organizational skills + Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations + Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projects + Demonstrated expertise in the development of comprehensive, integrated financial budgeting and reporting systems + Ability to operate effectively within a complex multi-faceted academic environment + Facility with detail and ability to synthesize that detail within an overall strategic framework + Skill at facilitating open and constructive dialogue + Ability to collaborate with a broad range of people across many disciplines + A creative and entrepreneurial approach + Energy and enthusiasm for new ideas + Ability to effect change through influence and collaboration + Commitment to the highest ethical standards and commitment to transparency Special Instructions to Applicants: Korn Ferry is handling the search process for this cabinet-level position.
