About the Organization:Boys & Girls Club of Brookings, Moody County & Yankton are more than just places. They are part of a movement to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Boys & Girls Club of Brookings, SD Inc. is an umbrella organization with five different Boys & Girls Clubs serving youth in Brookings, Moody County and Yankton. We provide impactful youth programs in a safe place where caring and qualified staff work to offer youth: a safe place to learn and grow... ongoing relationships with caring adults... life-enhancing programs and character development experiences... hope and opportunity. Our goal is to positively impact as many kids' lives as possible. In 2018, our organization impacted the lives of over 3,000 members. Organization-wide, we achieved an average daily attendance of 772 youth during the school year and 726 youth each day during the summer months. As a proof point, 54% of Club alumni said the Club saved their life, so the impact you and your team will have on these kids and teen's lives will be life changing. Healthy Lifestyles Targeted programs delivered by our Clubs contribute to children and youth learning about the importance of healthy lifestyles, including eating a healthy diet, practicing healthy lifestyle choices and making a lifelong commitment to physical fitness. Character & Leadership Our character and leadership development programs are used year-round for fostering young people's character, personal growth, and leadership qualities by promoting service to Club, community and family; academic success and life goals. Key Responsibilities include the following: Establish goals and budgets and develop policies, procedures, and programs that fulfill the mission of the Boys & Girls Club with the collaboration and support of the Board of Directors. Monitor and approve the organization's program services and assures achievement of its mission and goals. Provide leadership to Club staff by developing administrative and operational standards by which goals will be met. Assure management and attainment of resources necessary to ensure the financial operations of the agency are conducted in accordance with applicable laws. Assure that the organization is in compliance with membership and other requirements or standards of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and other affiliated and regulatory agencies Oversee staffing activities of the organization, including recruiting, training, mentoring and evaluation of both paid and volunteer staff. Promote Boys & Girls Club services to individuals, other service organizations, and the local community. Direct and participate in public relations and fundraising activities. Provide professional leadership to the Board of Directors to assure development of an effective and motivated board, including identification, recruitment, training and involvement of members in meeting the goals of the organization. May be assigned special projects periodically by the Board of Directors. Reports to the Board of Directors. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required include: Demonstrated ability to organize, direct, plan and coordinate operations in a multi-unit organization. Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, decision making, delegation. Strong communication skills, both oral and written; ability to speak effectively and persuasively to groups and individuals. Demonstrated competency and ability in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a Board of Directors, Staff, Community Groups, and other related agencies. Demonstrated ability to supervise professionals and other staff/volunteers who may be in distant subunits of the organization. Knowledge and expertise in asset management including financial resources and property. Demonstrated skills and competency in the following areas preferred: the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs; of the principles and practices of non-profit organizations and of management; and resource development activities and sources of funding.
