North Wales Fire and Rescue Service have a superb opportunity for a highly experienced finance professional with a strategic mindset and exceptional leadership skills, to join the Senior Management Team as Head of Finance. The role is based at the head office in St Asaph, which is conveniently located for an easy commute from the North Wales and Cheshire regions.
What will this role of Head of Finance entail?
As the Head of Finance, you'll develop and deliver the financial strategy ensuring value for money in the use of public funds. You'll take overall responsibility for the delivery of an efficient finance function, and effectively lead and manage the Finance Team.
Your duties will also encompass budget setting and management, internal and external reporting, financial governance, external regulation, overseeing the delivery of financial services by external partners, and acting as the lead coordinator for procurement across the Service.
Who will I be working with?
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service helps to protect the people of North Wales, including the hundreds of thousands of tourists and visitors who come to the region every year. The Service employs almost 900 people, who support the attendance of around 3,200 fires, 500 road traffic collisions and 500 other emergency incidents annually.

What will I need to be considered for this Head of Finance vacancy?
* Fully qualified with either CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA or ICAEW (or similar), or part qualified with extensive experience in a similar financial management position
* Experience of leading and managing a team
* Good knowledge of pay legislation
* IT literacy, with the ability to demonstrate strong analytical skills
* Highly organised with an appreciation of the importance of forward planning
* A full valid driving licence and willingness to travel as required
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service supports all new members of staff to achieve basic Welsh language courtesy skills to at least Level 2 within their probation period (12 months), if not already demonstrated at the recruitment stage.
What will I receive in return?
Salary: £41,846, rising incrementally to £44,697

Contract Type: Permanent
Hours of Work: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
