Our client are the world leader in the manufacture of Industrial LED Lighting Solutions for a wide range of markets. Over the past 90 years our client have revolutionised the LED market with new innovative products, exceptional customer service and genuinely having a product they are proud of.

With exponential growth and new markets and products on the horizon they are looking to grow their Engineering team based in London, the role is for an Optical Engineer reporting into the EMEA Engineering Manager.

Our client are at a point in business expansion where there is a need to grow regional product development capabilities and to increase the NPD capacity worldwide. For this, they have an immediate need for an Optical Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

Demonstrate knowledge standards and guidelines applicable to LED lighting products
Perform testing to verify/validate optical performance of LED lighting products
Perform testing to thermally characterise LED and luminaire performance using thermal chamber
Develop new test methods as needed
Maintain equipment and calibrations
Create accurate optical validation/verification test reports
Carefully document and file all work according to engineering procedures
Apply engineering knowledge to specify and design optical components using optical first order analysis, simulations, prototyping and testing
Participate in customer visits when needed

Required Skills & Experience:

Ideally a degree in Optics, Physics or Electrical Engineering with concentration in optical sciences
Strong, proven industry experience
Proficient in LED technologies
Experience working within an optics lab with optical and electronics test equipment
Expeirence with optics design software
Knowledge of optics and optical design
