A full-time 3-year NIH funded postdoctoral research position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Iain L. O. Buxton in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. The fellow will join a multidisciplinary research program of smooth muscle contractile regulation, with a focus on the role of protein S-nitrosation on contractile protein function. The focus of this fellowship is to develop the candidate's ability to conduct research in molecular pharmacology in the specific area of preterm labor research in human and animal models. Research responsibilities include development of research protocols, conducting experiments and collecting data, statistical data analysis, manuscript preparation and submission. Fellows will also supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Required Qualifications: The incumbent will have an earned doctoral degree in the biomedical sciences completed within 5 years of the position start date and experience in the study of the actions of drugs and chemicals on living systems.
Salary is based on the NIH scale ($48,400 to $55,000 depending on experience) and includes benefits. The fellow will join a multidisciplinary research program of smooth muscle contractile regulation, with a focus on the role of protein S-nitrosation on contractile protein function.
