OVERVIEW: Manhattan College an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), is seeking a qualified candidate for a full-time position of Assistant Director of Sports Communication, Digital & Emerging Media for 19 Division I varsity sports. This position assists the Sports Communication and Media Relations office with the promotion of the student-athlete experience while assisting with all aspects of the office. RESPONSIBILITIES: To include but are not limited to: The individual will also serve as the primary media contact for women's basketball team, the men's and women's track & field program and other assigned sports. Responsibilities include are press releases, game notes, graphics, Manhattan Jasper storylines and videos for publication. Assist in the planning and production of live audio and/ or video broadcast of the Jasper Sports Network and ESPN3 Oversee Jasper Sports Network / ESPN3 Director for live broadcasts, web streaming, marketing and promotional videos; further developing initiatives in new media, social media and multimedia. Maintain a positive relationship with media & fans, updating the Athletic Department's website and managing social media accounts while ensuring accurate statistics and execution of game day operations. Promote the Athletic Department and its student-athletes to various local and national media and ensure that all outgoing materials maintain brand consistency. Expectation is to continuously evolve with strategies and methodology for content and promotion of the Athletic Department in the current ever-changing digital age. Participate in operational budget planning for game operations and reconciliation of monthly expenses. Ability to work in a team-oriented and collaborative environment with coaches, other staff members, the College and external constituents. Assist with coordination of part-time staff and associated payroll. Seek campus and external assistance through the athletic department's internship program. Willingness to accept other duties as assigned. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors Degree required, Master's Degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years of full-time experience at the NCAA Division I level or a related professional field. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Knowledge with Adobe Desktop Publishing - Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube), video editing software and Stat Crew Software. Familiar with ESPN3 and streaming video production Experience with supervision and leadership and managing game day and production crew staff Develop initiatives in new media, social media and multimedia -- including video and assist in graphic design projects Willingness to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays during peak seasons along with some required travel. The candidate is expected to comply with all rules and regulations provided by the NCAA and MAAC Conference. Ability to foster positive relationships and create partnerships with a wide range of constituent groups. Possess a valid driver's license. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, strong attention to detail and keep specific timelines. Ability to lift equipment on occasion and work in various environmental conditions.
