Cathcart Associates are looking for a number of trainees to join our Edinburgh HQ and continue our rapid expansion as we strive to become the UK's biggest (and most successful) independent technology recruitment consultancy.

Who are we?

We are an independent recruitment company specialising in the provision of specialist IT staff, headquartered in Edinburgh. We were founded in 2009 and have grown from three employees to over forty worldwide including a successful office in Bangkok. We are a team of extremely driven, ambitious people, and our goal is to become the UK's largest (and most successful) IT specialist recruitment company. All our management team either joined as trainees or were the original founders. We promote from within and offer opportunities to progress for those who demonstrate capability and desire. We are friendly and welcoming and offer a bespoke training programme for all trainees.

What's in it for you?

In addition to your basic salary, we have one of the industry's leading commission structures - it's uncapped, meaning that the sky is your limit in terms of earning potential.

We also offer some of the industry's best incentives, including Michelin Star lunches, luxury watches, holiday trips (we have recently been to Paris, Miami and Mallorca), we have rented holiday homes for the company in the highlands, company cars and much more.

Lastly company culture is important to us! Our staff retention rate is unheard of in the world of recruitment - This is mainly down to us looking after our staff, rewarding success and creating a structure which means everyone has a voice and a career path.

What will I be doing every day?

Recruitment is often described as fast paced, varied and fairly intense. All of these adjectives are true, but they don't really give you much insight into the role.

After an initial 3-6-month training period, where you'll learn the ropes, you will be responsible for the following:

* Identifying potential customers and using your powers of persuasion to convince them to use your service. This includes negotiating commercial agreements with a wide array of companies.

* Finding technology professionals and convincing them that your customers are offering them a career they'd be willing to trade in their current role for.

* Immersing yourself in the technology sector and attending/organising technology events, meet-ups and conferences.

* Being responsible for the entire recruitment life cycle from initial contact to organising interviews, finalising employment offers and post-placement care.

You:

The beauty of this role is that it can suit almost anyone. For example, we have people from all sorts of degree backgrounds (physics, fine art, business, marketing etc), salespeople, retail assistants, customer service and pretty much everything in between, but no matter what you will be given all the tools and training to become a very good recruitment professional. The thing they all have in common is a drive to succeed, a competitive edge and a focus on quality.

What next?

If this all sounds like a bit of you, then please apply. If successful we'll then invite you into our Edinburgh office to talk through your background in more detail, the role and answer any of your questions.
