REED Technology are pleased to be working with an established public sector organisation based in North Bristol who are looking to recruit a new Head of IT Security to join their team.
This role provides a great opportunity for an experienced IT/Cyber Security professional to step up into a senior role that will offer them exposure to and development in creating strategic cyber security roadmaps, as well as technical design input and line management, without having to lose the opportunity to be involved at a technical hands-on level. You will be serving an organisation of 430 IT users.

. Setting the strategy for Cyber Security and defining detailed roadmaps, ensuring security is Embedded in all aspects of IT from the design through to delivery and operation
. Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) providing expertise, guidance and advice in ICT Security related subjects, including maintaining up to date knowledge in network, application and communications security solutions, emerging technologies for security enterprise architectures and infrastructures
. Maintenance of Cyber Essentials Certification
. Management of relevant third parties (Outsourced SOC, external pentesting partner)
. Management if IT Security risks, reporting progress and issues to the CTO and Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) as required
. Management of security major security incidents, reporting directly to the CTO and SIRO on progress and ongoing issues and risks
. Line Management of one security analyst
This role will be ideal for a cyber security professional who has a good working knowledge of SIEM tools including interpreting data and responding to alerts by taking remedial action to neutralise threats.
You would also ideally have experience in identifying IT security risks, maintaining information security certifications (ie., cyber essentials) and have a good understanding of pentesting processes.
This role presents a great opportunity for the successful applicant to boost their profile by gaining senior strategic exposure, but without having to sacrifice your technical hands-on experience.
