Your new company
I'm working with a tech-first Financial Services provider to recruit a .NET Technical Lead to work in a newly created Scrum team following new investment after a company buyout. This acquisition has moved them into the same group of companies as the biggest and most well-known Insurance and Comparison businesses in the UK, and their ambition is to grow to a similar size in coming years.

These roles are offered fully remote, hybrid, or fully in the office - they empower candidates to choose the working pattern that suits them and are more focused on outputs and contribution to the team than set location.

Your new role
Spinning up the new Engineering team means 7 new hires, so you'll be joining at an exciting time amongst other hungry new Developers. The Technical Lead position is around 70% hands-on, keeping you sharp with the latest technologies and getting your hands dirty. 30% is then shared between line management of a small team, mentoring, architecture, suggesting technology choices and supporting the Director of IT which this role reports into.

The Director of IT is an ex-Developer and understands what's important to his teams, no timesheets, no compromise on quality of equipment, he wants to enable his team to be able to deliver as best as possible.

From a technical perspective it's the perfect time to be joining, you'll be working on the companies long term visions, working almost entirely greenfield using .NET Core, API's and helping them to undertake an immediate modernisation to a Microservice architecture hosted in Azure. The UI is in React, but they do not need this from day 1, more an openness to have some element of full stack in your role moving forward (even if it's 80/20%).

From a cultural perspective it's all about communication, whether remote or in the office. They want people open to ideas, hungry to learn, happy to socialise and people that match their ambition to grow.

You'd help to lead 1 of 4 Scrum teams (28 people across them) and they have around 60 headcount in total, so it's a very techy business.

What you'll need to succeed
We're looking for experienced Developers that have built API's, used .NET Core and really know the nuances of C#. Knowledge JavaScript/React would make you a standout candidate.

Of course we need strong SQL Server skills and you will have likely progressed from an Asp.NET MVC background through versions to Core/.NET 6.

As you will be primarily working on greenfield projects, a familiarisation with one or more of the following design patterns/principles would be an advantage, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Command Query Responsibility Segregation (CQRS), Clean Architecture (CA).

We would love you to have worked with Azure and have an interest in learning about microservices (or imparting your knowledge as they go on that migration journey).

You will have mentored a small team or line managed, with an understanding that is a crucial part of this role.

What you'll get in return
You'll join a team where work life balance is not an abstract culture. They were early adopters of remote working so you can by fully displaced or fully in the office. They have regular socials (once a month as a minimum) and they offer a 10% Bonus scheme, private healthcare, 23 days holiday + bank holidays, life assurance, long service rewards and have a host of other personal benefits.
