Project Engineer - carbon & energy

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 dependent upon skills & experience

Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Location: Green Lane, Walsall

At South Staffs Water we deliver clean and reliable water supplies to around 1.5 million customers within the South Staffs and Cambridge regions. We recognise the need for fresh thinking and flexibility in how we approach the future and respond to new challenges. We are looking for a team member who wishes to develop their project delivery skills within our energy team, supporting our Net Zero journey.

We have an exciting opening for a project engineer to play an integral part in assisting the business in delivering energy and carbon saving projects across both South Staffs and Cambridge regions. Working within the energy team you will be supporting the delivery and oversight of various projects, including but not limited to:

• Electric Vehicle Transition

• Renewable Energy

• Energy Efficiency

Ideally, you will have some technical, commercial and regulatory experience relating to energy and carbon projects. As a good communicator you will liaise and engage with operational staff to ensure timely delivery of projects aligned to our Net Zero Roadmap. The role will also include supporting the Energy and Carbon officer in collating energy, cost and carbon data inc. dashboards and overseeing the Pump Efficiency Program (PEP)

The role will also require you to capture lessons learned, carry out due diligence, benchmark good practices / technology and prepare business cases, engage with various internal stakeholders, and report on project performance and metrics.

You must be able to demonstrate a track record in managing resources, budgets, time, and stakeholder relationships in the effective deployment of technical projects.

This position will be full time; based in our Green Lane, Walsall office with a requirement to work from other sites across both regions in South Staffordshire and Cambridge.

A background in either the water or other regulated sector would be advantageous but is not essential.
