Live-in Personal Assistant for Disabled Uni Students

Graduate / PA / Carer / Support Worker to Marketing Student at Southampton University.

Location: Southampton

Hours: 7 days on / 7 days off

Pay rate: £120.00 Per Day (Live-In)

Start Date: September 2022

Our client is looking to recruit a Personal Assistant to provide his care and academic support to enable him to make the most of his university experience. He is going into his second year to study Marketing at Southampton University.

This is a fantastic opportunity to truly make a positive difference to somebody else s life. To enable our client to achieve his goals and aspirations.

About Our Client

Our client has a diagnosis of Duchene Muscular Dystrophy. This is a progressive illness which causes muscle fatigue of the entire body. Because of this, he uses a powered wheelchair to get around. Although he requires physical assistance, he is able to feed himself, use his mobile phone and computer, and also carry small items. Our client wants to be as independent as possible, so has chosen Southampton University because it is a few hours away from his home in Twickenham. This is our client s return to University, Therefore, he is looking for a PA to help with personal care, academic support and everyday life.

I hope to make the most of many social opportunities at university, such as attending society s and going out to restaurants, parks, pubs e.g. I enjoy going out and socialising, whether that be participating in my Boccia, going for meals or other general out and about activities, so I am looking for a PA who is not only prepared to, but looking forward to, supporting me with the social aspect of student life!"

About You

You are unlikely to have experience in every aspect of our client's care therefore full training in his particular needs is provided.

You will need: -

To be physically fit, calm, patient and caring

Good organisational skills and the ability to work on your own initiative

To have a good sense of humour

To be friendly

Able to follow directions

Be flexible and accommodating to our clients varied university lifestyle

Good communication skills

Able to respect privacy

To be fluent in English (Both written and spoken)

To be clean and tidy in both your appearance and ways

To be a non-smoker

Whilst care experience is useful, it is more important that you have the personal attributes that make for a good "match" with our client.

You will be employed directly by our client who is supported by AskJules.
